Abstract: Introduction: Hypopressive technique (HT) can be defined as a set of systemic postural techniques that seek to decrease intra-abdominal, perineal and thoracic pressure. It has been proposed as a therapeutic resource in some postural changes during physical activities. Objective: To analyze the technique of hypopressive exercises as a way to reduce subcostal line measurement and abdominal postural functionality. Methodology: This study was a quantitative and interventionist research, with pre and post-test measures made in a single intervention group. In this study, twenty-four women aged between 18 and 50 years old, with subcostal line in the abdominal region were included. The treatment was consisted of a hypopressive exercise protocol, in which 12 individual consultations were made twice a week, lasting 20 minutes each. This study was approved by the Ethics Committee from Universidade Federal do Ceará, UFC, which register number is 3,212,737. Results: The sample had a mean age of 26.8 (± 6.36) years, and an initial average of 19.31 (± 1.85) cm of subcostal line measurement, and after the visits, the individuals presented a mean of 17.12 (± 1.19) cm (p <0.05). Regarding the abdominal tone, 70.83% of the participants initially presented enough dynamic tonicity and 41.67% of the analyzed group presented some resting tonicity, according to the Linkert Scale, and after the visits, 62.5% presented a lot of dynamic tonicity (p <0, 05) and 50% a lot of resting tonicity (p <0.05). Conclusions: HT proved to be a good technique for reducing subcostal line measurement, as well as for correcting abdominal postural functionality in some women.
