Abstract: Introduction: Palliative care emerged in order to support individuals who have a disease without cure
now, intervening to promote maximum comfort for them. Health professionals, such as physical therapists,
offer alternatives for the management and control of symptoms resulting from the disease, such as pain,
dyspnea and other discomforts, aiming to improve the individual's quality of life. Objectives: To conduct
an integrative literature review on the role of physiotherapy in palliative care. Methodology: This is an
integrative qualitative review conducted in the LILACS and PubMed databases of articles published in the
last 12 years. The guiding question was: “How can physiotherapy act in palliative care?” Results: The
search resulted in 79 articles, after applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria, the final sample had 7
articles. The interventions found were acupuncture, group and individual activity programs, lymphatic
drainage, gait and balance training associated with strengthening and bracing, mechanical ventilation,
respiratory physiotherapy techniques, physical exercise along with myofascial release and proprioceptive
neuromuscular facilitation, resistance training. Conclusions: Physiotherapeutic techniques can be used to
alleviate the discomfort of these patients, with positive results in reducing pain, fatigue and lymphedema,
as well as improving mobility, bone density and quality of life. However, studies with a larger sample size
are necessary to prove the effectiveness of physiotherapeutic techniques and approaches aimed at patients
in palliative care.

Abstract: Introduction: Electrolipolysis is a technique that treats adiposity and the accumulation of localized fatty
acids, with the application of electrical currents. Objectives: To analyze the benefits of electrolipolysis in
reducing adiposity located in the abdominal region and the degree of patient satisfaction. Methodo: The
study was carried out with 20 women aged between 20 and 40 years with adiposity located in the
abdominal region. The evaluation method used was the abdominal region perimetry and a satisfaction
questionnaire, carried out after the electrolipolysis. Ten sessions were held. Results: A reduction in
abdominal perimeter was observed and an improvement in the level of patient satisfaction. The average
gain was 4.32cm above and 4.15cm below the navel. In assessing the degree of satisfaction for acceptance
related to physical well-being, deprivation of clothing, patients' expectations and whether they would
undergo or continue the treatment. The average score increased by 2 points. Conclusions: This article
reached the pre-established objectives, as the use of electrolipolysis brought about a reduction in
abdominal perimetry and an improvement in the degree of satisfaction, with gains mainly in terms of acceptance of physical well-being and deprivation of clothing due to localized adiposity. And yet, most
people improved the grade, about themselves.

Abstract: Introduction: Pain in the lumbopelvic region and urinary incontinence (UI) are frequent during
pregnancy; however, they are often not properly approached; therefore, the proposal of shared care
between physiotherapy and nursing in prenatal consultations could provide pregnant women with
comprehensive care that values these complaints. Objectives: To describe the profile and frequency of
lumbopelvic pain and urinary incontinence of pregnant women attended in prenatal care shared between
physiotherapy and nursing in Primary Care. Methodology: Descriptive cross-sectional study carried out in
a Basic Family Health Unit, between May 2015 and February 2017. 28 pregnant women participated in the
research. For pain assessment, a pain map with graphical representation of the body and the Visual Analog
Scale were used; the International Consultation on Incontinence Questionnaire - Short Form (ICIQ-SF)
was used for UI. The data were analyzed according to the gestational age of the assessment in two groups:
Group 1 first half of pregnancy (16 pregnant women), and Group 2 second half of pregnancy (15 pregnant
women). Results: The pregnant women were, on average, 26.6 years old, with the majority being
primigravida. The prevalence of complaints of low back pain was 31.2% and 60%, and UI 68.7% and 60% in group 1 and group 2, respectively. Conclusion: Due to the considerable prevalence of pain complaints
and UI there is a need for the insertion of the physiotherapist in prenatal care, who can act in the
promotion, prevention and treatment of these and other complaints, thus contributing to improve prenatal
care .

Abstract: Introduction: Physical frailty is a geriatric syndrome most prevalent in women and it has been associated
with decreased functional performance and increased risk of falls, which can lead to depression and
decline quality of life. Objectives: The aim of this study was to evaluate the relationship between frailty
criteria, risk of falls, depressive symptoms and quality of life (QoL) in pre-frail community-dwelling older
women. Methods: Cross-sectional study was performed with 28 pre-frail older women (71±5years). The
participants were assessed for frailty (Fried’s phenotype), risk of falls (Timed up and Go), depressive
symptoms by Geriatric Depression Scale-15 (GDS), and QoL (SF-36). Results: The most part (82.1%) of
the sample presented risk of falls. In QoL, social functioning (76±20) and physical functioning (72±20)
had highest scores. Depressive symptoms were present in 32% of the sample. Correlation was observed
between GDS and QoL dimensions: physical functioning (p=0.003); Limitations by role-physical
(p=0.038); general health (p=0.013); vitality (p=0.009) and bodily pain (p=0.000). Fatigue presented
correlation with: vitality (p=0.008); social functioning (p=0.019); role-emotional (p=0.048); mental health
(p=0.029). There was also correlation between handgrip strength (HS) and social functioning (p=0.009).
Conclusion: The older women presented risk of falls and lower HS. Higher scores in depressive symptoms
indicating lower physical functioning, worse general health, and vitality. Also, higher fatigue indicating
worse vitality, general health, mental health, role-emotional, and social functioning.
