dc.description.abstractCan you imagine a fresh apple? Can you imagine a person dancing? Most people are probably able to conjure these images in their minds in one way or another, but a small amount of people cannot conjure any type of mental image at all. These people have a condition called aphantasia. This article contains an overview of the concepts of aphantasia and mental imagery and aims to translate into Brazilian Portuguese one of the tests used to identify people with aphantasia, the Vividness of Visual Imagery Questionnaire. This endeavor aims to present and clarify a different way in which people think and perceive reality, as well as introducing an instrument to Brazilian literature for measuring the vividness of mental images.pt_BR

dc.description.abstract-ptbrVocê consegue imaginar uma maçã fresca? Consegue imaginar uma pessoa dançando? A maioria das pessoas provavelmente é capaz de conjurar essas imagens em suas mentes de uma forma ou de outra, mas uma pequena quantidade de pessoas não consegue conjurar nenhum tipo de imagem mental. Essas pessoas têm uma condição chamada de afantasia. Este artigo contém uma visão geral sobre os conceitos de afantasia e de imagem mental e tem por objetivo traduzir para o português brasileiro um dos testes utilizados para a identificação de pessoas com afantasia, a primeira versão do Vividness of Visual Imagery Questionnaire (ou o Questionário de Vivacidade de Imagens Visuais). Tal empreitada tem por objetivo apresentar e esclarecer uma diferente forma que as pessoas têm de pensar e perceber a realidade, assim como introduzir à literatura brasileira um instrumento para medição da vivacidade de imagens mentais.pt_BR
