Os sentidos da pobreza na Fenomenologia do espírito de Hegel

Abstract

Poverty is defined as a state in which a person or a whole country finds itself and which is marked by a great lack of money, goods, possessions and means to live. The term poverty can also be used to qualify the little or nonexistent quality of something like a house or the present text. The aim of the present text is to identify and expose the possible meanings of the word poverty, "Armut" in the original German, in Hegel's Phenomenology of the Spirit. The word is employed by Hegel in four very specific moments, but which end up being highlighted in structural figures of the Phenomenology. The first mention is given in the Preface to the work that expresses the Hegelian discomfort of anticipating there what can only be understood with the development of the work. The second mention happens in the section dedicated to Certainty and the truth of reason. The third mention occurs in the figure of the Spirit in which the word poverty is also used for the fourth and last time.
