Lendas, crendices e abusões: alegoria e história em O Cara de Fogo, de Jayme Griz

Abstract

This article aims to analyze the tale ‘O fantasma negro do bueiro da usina Cucaú’, from the book O cara de fogo, by the writer Jayme Griz, guided by the maintained bonds between the literature and the history. With the theoretical conditioners previewed in the works Origem do drama trágico alemão, by Walter Benjamin, and Introdução à literatura fantástica”, by Tzvetan Todorov, it was sought to gleam the allegory as analytical category which, in dialog with the socio-historical components, has provided the interpretation of the narrative. The dialectical method, in which the allowed inferences by the text dialogue with the context, has permitted an appreciation of the report beneath a view in which ethics and esthetics, literature and society are in intersection. At the conclusion, it was suggested that, even when the reading of the fantastic tale is bound to the reality, besieged by the marks of the myth and folklore, the hesitation by the reader and character is not dissipated in the face of the supernatural events.
