Expressões do futuro em francês: algumas considerações sobre marcação e expressividade retórica

Abstract

In this article, we deal with a sample collected in two online versions of French newspapers: Le Monde and Le Figaro , working with the future tense in written French, encoded by means of the simple future tense and periphrasis. Based on the theory of variation and change and on linguistic functionalism, we analyze the following groups as motivations for the variables: newspaper ( Le Monde x Le Figaro ), section ( actualités/culture x débats ), verbal regularity (regular x irregular), futurity mark (presence x absence) and concept of future (immediate x far). The results of the statistical analysis are correlated to the principles of markedness and rhetoric expressiveness, aiming to demonstrate that there is a preference for discoursivecognitive balance in the jornalistic text.
