| Abstract in Portuguese: | Esta pesquisa centra-se no estabelecimento de critérios para definir uma perífrase gerundiva como gerundismo: forma, natureza temporal, aspecto e modalidade. Além disso, apresentamos hipótese acerca da origem do gerundismo, bem como tecemos considerações sobre preconceito linguístico, devido ao fato de que algumas construções com gerúndio são estigmatizadas enquanto outras não desencadeiam atitude preconceituosa. |
| Abstract: | This research focuses on criteria to define a gerund periphrase as gerundismo: form, temporal nature, aspect and modality. Aditionally, we present a hypothesis about the origin of gerundismo, and offer considerations about linguistic prejudice, because of the fact that some gerund constructions are stigmatized while others do not give rise to prejudiced attitudes. |
