dc.description.abstractThe connection between insanity and literature is not recent: insanity is a current theme in literature, and in the other direction, the conception of Psychoanalysis is undeniably indebted to literature with the relation established by Freud between the patient’s iction and that created by the writer. This paper examines insanity in Fantasy Literature, dealing with hallucination in E. A. Poe and compulsion in H. P. Lovecraft, and investigates how the authors approach insanity.pt_BR

dc.description.abstract-ptbrA relação entre transtorno e literatura não é novidade: o transtorno é tema recorrente na literatura e, na outra direção, a concepção da psicanálise tem uma dívida inegável com a literatura a partir da relação estabelecida por Freud entre a ficção do paciente e aquela criada pelo escritor. O artigo explora o transtorno na literatura fantástica, abordando a alucinação em E. A. Poe e a compulsão em H. P. Lovecraft e examina como a insanidade é explorada pelos autores.pt_BR
