| Abstract in Portuguese: | Este artigo vem no bojo de um estudo maior sobre as relações entre católicos e protestantes no Ceará, no século XIX. Nele analisaremos as representações sociais da população eminentemente católica sobre a presença protestante nos primeiros contatos entre as duas religiões e a ação intolerante entre os dois cultos no campo religioso. |
| Abstract: | This article concerns a larger study about the relationships between catholics and protestants in Ceará in the century XIX. In it we will analyze the social representations of the population eminently Catholic of the Prorestant presence in the fim contacts among the two religions and the intolerant action among the two cults in the religious field. |
