dc.description.abstractThis is a work in which we do a research, not exhaustive, about the notions that the term function has known in Linguistics, particularly in functional approaches, whose principles were, at first, formulated in the fertile period of the Prague Linguistics Circle (PLC) and, after, developed by Matinet and Jakobson. Other notions, like the ones of Halliday’s and Hjelmslev’s, are equally mentioned, in order to emphasize the polysemy of the term in linguistics texts.pt_BR
