Abstract in Brazilian Portuguese:	A linguagem e o teor singulares da crônica traduzem o sentimento contemporâneo da saga em busca de lucidez e segurança. Do império ao modernismo, a crônica evolui e se assume híbrida. A forma curta, o tom fragmentado e ligeiro encaixam-se no frenesi pós-moderno e o gênero se firma como prosa tipicamente brasileira. Em entrevista, Affonso Romano de Sant’Anna, Roberto Braga e Airton Monte acirram debate sobre o gênero e falam daquele que é considerado o maior dos cronistas modernos : Rubem Braga.
Abstract:	The singular language and text of the chronicle translate the contemporary feeling of the saga looking forwards to lucidity and safety. From the empire to the modernism, the chronicle develops and it assumes hybrid. The short form, the fragmented and fast tone insert in the after-modern frenzy and the genre settle as a typical brazilian prose. In interview, Affonso Romano de Sant’Anna, Roberto Braga and Airton Monte incite debate about the genre and talk about the one who is considered the greater modern chronicle: Rubem Braga.
