In the midst of the discussions of the 19th National Museum Week, the Mauc, in articulation with the Artistic Culture Department and the Memorial, both of UFC, proposed the holding of the 1st Museums and Collections Seminar of UFC- Contemporary Reflections under the Extension Program Museum of Art: a new aesthetic reception. Th e meeting aimed to bring together recognized professionals in the field of museums and museology and representatives of the university’s collections and museums. The target audience included professionals and undergraduate and graduate students in the field of museology, with an interest in the theme of museums, collections and cultural heritage at the university level and interested in general. The four day event was crucial to provide a space for reflection on current issues and for the dissemination of UFC’s actions in the areas of culture, memory, collections, cultural heritage and museums, as well as to promote dialogue between dispersed knowledge and practices, although confluent for the preservation of the institution’s university heritage. Considering the universe of museums and collections of UFC, the seminar participants were organized into these categories: Archives; Libraries and Special Collections; Didactic and Scientific Collections; Playful collections; Farms and Preservation Areas; Preservation and Management Instances; Museums and Memorials. The Seminar initiative culminated with the publication of an e-book, a reference work for the area of collections and museums in the context of university heritage at UFC, elaborated in a collaborative and participatory manner. The research situates audio description (AD) as a form of Accessible Audiovisual Translation (AAVT) and tactile artwork as a translation of visual image into tactile language (DE COSTER; MÜHLEIS, 2007; HOLLAND, 2009). Our work is based on the framework of Systemic Functional Linguistics (SFL) to provide an understanding of the piece of art (O’TOOLE, 2011). The theoretical and methodological frameworks of action research were used to create the AD and tactile artwork, harmonically (BARBIER, 2007). Computer-aided technologies for automatic or semi-automatic translation of paintings into tactile language were used (CARFAGNI et al., 2012). The first procedure was analyzing the paintings using the aforementioned theoretical background and writing the audio descriptions. The second procedure was submitting the AD to the group of participants, including blind audio description consultants, to ensure that the tactile pieces of art were made in harmony with the AD. The third step was submitting both resources to a reception test. As a result, it was possible to establish preliminary criteria for AD and tactile artwork. The results also show that one completes the other regarding accessibility.
