Focusing on basing theoretically this study, it is presented the Archival theory, which was applied to TV archives, the main techniques to represent information, which were consolidated by Library Science, and also the main concepts of audiovisual documentation and information aiming to context the application of this research. It is also presented the scientific methods that were adopted to develop this study, as well as its relevance and hypotheses. In its applicability, it will be discussed the main characteristics of TV archives, emphasizing their language, their users/clients and their videotape supports; and also the manners that information have been represented inside TV archives, applying the techniques of cataloging, classifying and indexing to describe images in motion.
