Abstract: The  concession  of  airports  in Brazil  has  become  increasingly  common,  transferring &#xD;
responsibility from the public sector to the private sector with the aim of improving the quality &#xD;
of  services  provided  to  passengers.  This  may  lead  to  increased  use  of  these  services  and &#xD;
potentially impact tourism in those regions. Based on this, the present study aims to analyze &#xD;
whether  these concessions have  indeed had a  significant impact  on tourism  in  the Brazilian &#xD;
cities where these conceded airports are located. Using data from the period between 2010 and &#xD;
2023, the main objective is to investigate whether concessions to private entities have resulted &#xD;
in significant changes in tourism indicators in these cities. To do so, five airports located in &#xD;
Brazilian capitals were analyzed: Galeão International Airport (Rio de Janeiro), Pinto Martins &#xD;
Airport  (Fortaleza),  Deputado  Luís  Eduardo  Magalhães  Airport  (Salvador), &#xD;
Guararapes/Gilberto Freyre Airport (Recife), and Salgado Filho Airport (Porto Alegre). The &#xD;
variables used for the analysis were: passenger traffic at the airports, hotel occupancy rates, and &#xD;
the arrival of international tourists by air. The methodology applied in the study was divided &#xD;
into two parts. First, a preliminary visual inspection of the variables was conducted individually, &#xD;
followed by the application of the Chow Test, which allows for the identification of structural &#xD;
breaks at known points in time. This was done to verify possible structural breaks in tourism &#xD;
indicators in the year of the concession and the year following it, in order to assess the effects &#xD;
of the concession on the tourism indicators of the analyzed cities. The results show that the &#xD;
concession  of  these  airports  may  have  generated  significant  impacts  on  these  variables,  as &#xD;
structural breaks were found in the year following the concession for one airport, in both years &#xD;
for two airports, while no structural breaks were found for the remaining two airports in any of &#xD;
the analyzed years. However, since the Chow Test  is not capable of identifying the specific &#xD;
cause  of  the  break,  it  is  not  possible  to  conclude whether  these  breaks were  caused  by  the &#xD;
concession itself or by other external factors. This makes it impossible to determine whether &#xD;
the concession of these airports truly caused impacts on the tourism indicators of these cities. &#xD;
This study contributes to the debate on public policies in the tourism and transportation sectors &#xD;
and seeks to fill a gap in the academic literature on this topic.

      <title>A Note on the dependence of the capital stock in Brazil</title>

      <description>Título: A Note on the dependence of the capital stock in Brazil
Autor(es): Souza, Ana Clara Braz Moreira de
Abstract: This work adds to the discussion on public and private investment in Brazil by addressing the transmission mechanisms of internal and external shocks to capital stock variation. Baseline specification is estimated using Time-Varying Parameter VAR with dynamic structures, following Gabauer and Gupta (2018). The purpose is to quantify the magnitude and direction of pairwise spillovers, accounting for their persistence across different time horizons. The results from April 2007 to September 2024 show that capital stock variation is typically a net receiver. Public debt, enterprise credit, and household credit exert influence with higher intensity. This dependence on financial sources (credit and debt) suggests agents' rationality but also prompts us to consider whether the downward trend in capital stock will persist, given the high level of household and government indebtedness. Most of this influence occurs at a frequency longer than one year. This study also explores the specific relationship between capital stock variation and economic growth.

      <title>Eficiência dos campi da rede federal de educação profissional, científica e tecnológica do Brasil</title>
      <link>http://repositorio.ufc.br/handle/riufc/86601</link>
      <description>Título: Eficiência dos campi da rede federal de educação profissional, científica e tecnológica do Brasil
Autor(es): Marçal, Pedro Ronald Almeida
Abstract: This study explored the evolution and efficiency differentials of the campuses of the Federal Network of Professional, Scientific, and Technological Education (EPCT) between 2017 and 2023. The research analyzed 593 campuses and 3,673 observations, representing the 38 Brazilian Federal Institutes. Using Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA), the study assessed efficiency trends over time and across regions. The findings revealed significant variations between campuses and throughout the period, with efficiency score fluctuations and a negative impact from the COVID–19 pandemic in 2020. Additionally, resource distribution was found to be heterogeneous, possibly influenced by operational strategies and institutional context. Although higher investments were associated with more graduates, the relationship between resources and efficiency was not linear, highlighting the importance of effective management. The regional analysis identified disparities, with campuses in the Southeast achieving the highest efficiency scores, while those in the Northeast and South recorded the lowest performances. The results provide valuable insights for policymakers and managers in optimizing resource allocation. However, some limitations should be considered, such as the absence of qualitative indicators, which could capture nuances of institutional performance. Future research may explore additional variables, such as faculty qualifications and the social impact of graduates, as well as expand the analysis to other technical education institutions.
