Abstract: This study examines how contemporary Pentecostalism has produced new forms of religious sociability through the virtualization of its practices, incorporating digital technologies from other fields of social activity. A form of virtualized Pentecostalism has emerged as a significant phenomenon within the Pentecostal Christian religious landscape at the turn of the millennium, characterized by the adaptation of traditional Pentecostal practices to digital and virtualized environments. The emergence of this phenomenon is understood as the outcome of a long historical process involving successive abstractions and resignifications of the meanings of temple, presence, and access to the sacred. The empirical research was conducted across physical and virtual fields. The physical field comprised in-person visits to places of worship to observe religious rituals and interact with believers, including semi-structured, face-to-face interviews and questionnaires administered via Google Forms. The digital field involved the observation of Instagram profiles, participation in a WhatsApp group, and visits to a virtual church using an avatar to attend worship services. According to the evangelical participants, online worship services transmitted via live streaming and participation in WhatsApp support groups were among the primary strategies for coping with social isolation during the COVID-19 pandemic and for maintaining religious practices. Beyond the intensive use of digital social networks, some churches implemented more structured processes of virtualization, exemplified by the creation of the virtual church Lagoverso as a virtual replica of a physical church. The study argues that virtualization exceeds the mere digitalization of social relations, as digitally mediated processes aim not only to connect individuals and generate new forms of interaction, but above all to produce immersive and quasi-autonomous virtual environments governed by their own rules of sociability and distinctive modes of religious practice.

Abstract: This thesis investigates the political disputes that occur on digital platforms in the contemporary Brazilian context, focusing on the consolidation of the far-right in these spaces and the strategies of confrontation developed by the left. The study aims to analyze digital platforms not only as means of communication, but as products of the capitalist economy and as instruments that express the private interests of their owners, whose economic and political orientations materialize in the algorithmic structure and functioning. With a time frame focused primarily on the 2022 election period, the research takes platform X (formerly Twitter) as its main field of observation, analyzing Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and Jair Bolsonaro as privileged agents in the political dispute that takes place in this space. Methodologically, the investigation is based on the constitution of a collection of data extracted from the platform, combined with the analysis of the content composed of publications, interactions, and narratives, interpreted from an interdisciplinary perspective. It is argued that the economic and political orientations of digital platforms favor certain forms of political action, especially the modus operandi of the far-right, which uses digital resources as mechanisms for mobilizing and uniting its electoral base, highlighting a structural asymmetry in these spaces. Given this scenario, and seeking to reverse the losses resulting from the 2018 electoral defeat, the Brazilian left is promoting a political restructuring in the 2022 election, through: 1) a confrontation marked by professionalization in the use of media; 2) the mobilization of a legal apparatus aimed at neutralizing opposing strategies; 3) the organization of a digital support network capable of contesting narratives in the so-called "digital guerrilla warfare"; and 4) the phenomenon known as cultural Janonism. Finally, it is evident that political disputes on digital platforms are not limited to election periods, constituting a permanent field of conflict and subject to changes that highlight its dynamic nature.

      <title>Programa Minha Casa, Minha Vida Entidades: uma nova política habitacional?</title>

Abstract: This research analyzes the "Minha Casa Minha Vida Entidades" (PMCMV-E) program in the city of Fortaleza, focusing on the self-management modality in social housing. The program stands out for centralizing social movements as protagonists in the housing process, encompassing everything from land acquisition and project conception to family selection, hiring of a technical team, and contracting a construction company. The study investigates the participation of these movements, using as its empirical field the Luiz Gonzaga Residential Complex, located on Rua Estrela de Ouro, in the Jangurussu neighborhood, on the outskirts of Fortaleza, Ceará. Inaugurated on November 2, 2019, the project was the result of a partnership between the Secretariat of Cities of the Government of the State of Ceará, the Municipality of Fortaleza, entities, and social movements linked to housing issues, such as Cearah Periferia, the Federation of Neighborhoods and Slums of Fortaleza, and Habitat for Humanity. Methodologically, I sought a close-up, insider's perspective as well as an outsider's, distant perspective (Magnani, 2002) to compose a posture of observation, listening, and writing (Oliveira, 1998). To this end, I used a field diary to record the observations gathered on-site. A qualitative/quantitative study was chosen. In the first, qualitative phase, semi-structured interviews were conducted with representatives of the organizing entities and with residents linked to social movements. In a second, quantitative phase, a questionnaire was applied to the residents of the housing complex, aiming to measure the level of satisfaction and perception regarding housing in the location. The theoretical foundation, based on authors who analyze the formation of Brazilian social housing and the understanding of the history of public housing policies in Brazil, highlights Topalov (1996), Azevedo (1988), Bonduki (1998), Gohn (1991), Oliveira (2006), Rizek (2014), Bollafi (1997), Blay (1985), Braga (1995), Gondim (2012), Pequeno (2008), Ponte (1993), Silva (1992), and Maricato (2011). The distinctive feature of the Luiz Gonzaga complex lies in its community organization, participatory management, and the strengthening of ties among residents. This integration transforms beneficiaries into active agents in the construction of the space, expanding the right to the city beyond the simple handing over of keys.

Abstract: This thesis examines the narratives of young women living in the city of Fortaleza, Ceará—aged between 18 and 25—regarding their uses, perceptions, and experiences in the online search for partners through the dating application Tinder, and how, from the collected accounts, we can access their desires, anxieties, dilemmas, contradictions, and ways of loving and being loved in contemporary times. Popularized in Brazil in the mid-2010s, dating apps have reshaped the ways in which the search for a potential romantic partner takes place, adding complexity to this pursuit and offering analytical elements that are relevant to Sociology. Unlike most studies on the topic, this thesis seeks to deepen the understanding of the local context in which women make use of these media, drawing on literature on origin myths, family, and patriarchy in Ceará. Methodologically, the researcher entered the universe of Tinder and, through it, began interactions with the interlocutors during the year 2020, maintaining frequent contact with them until mid-2023. Based on the research findings, the thesis problematization was constructed, beginning with the contextualization of the interlocutors, in which a reference to Iracema—José de Alencar’s character—was developed, considering the multiple references to her that shape both the urban and symbolic spaces of the city. Beyond her sexualization, Iracema crystallizes a model of femininity associated with surrender and sacrifice, elements that constitute gender technologies (LAURETIS, 1984) marked by renunciation and devotion to the other. We present Iracema as a living myth (ELIADE, 1972) connected to “prescriptions” of what it means to be a woman—especially a Northeastern woman—particularly regarding what they should desire and how they should love, within a national and local context shaped by patriarchy. Problematizing this history is essential for understanding how these affective pedagogies—crafted in the intertwining of enchantment and pain—shape the emotions, expectations, and modes of loving among these young women. Finally, it was observed that the interlocutors occupy a kind of in-between space: they aspire to more horizontal romantic relationships—an aspiration that emerges from internal conversations in which they seek to understand both their own trajectories and those of the people close to them—yet they are still influenced by an emotional culture that holds the romantic partner as an ideal. In a violently patriarchal culture, they continue to accept practices that place them in situations of vulnerability.
