      <description>Título: Entre o prato e o pote: uma análise comparativa do custo-benefício entre o consumo de alimentos fonte de proteína e suplemento à base de proteína do soro do leite
Autor(es): Agostinho, Fabiano Gomes
Abstract: The growing pursuit of a healthier lifestyle has increased the&#xD;
consumption of protein supplements, especially whey protein, which is&#xD;
widely used as a practical alternative to meet dietary protein&#xD;
requirements. However, its higher cost raises questions regarding its&#xD;
cost-effectiveness compared with natural high-quality protein foods. This&#xD;
study aimed to perform a comparative analysis of the cost-effectiveness&#xD;
of whey protein supplements and whole-food protein sources. This was&#xD;
a quantitative, exploratory, comparative, and documentary study based&#xD;
on price collection from supermarkets, pharmacies, supplement stores,&#xD;
and e-commerce platforms, combined with an analysis of the nutritional&#xD;
composition of the products. The analysis included cost per gram of&#xD;
protein, cost required to obtain an equivalent serving of 30 g of protein,&#xD;
protein efficiency considering the Digestible Indispensable Amino Acid&#xD;
Score (DIAAS) and the Protein Efficiency Index (PEI), as well as the&#xD;
cost required to achieve the leucine threshold of 3 g. The results showed&#xD;
that natural foods presented a lower cost per gram of protein, whereas&#xD;
whey protein offered advantages related to convenience, higher protein&#xD;
concentration, easier achievement of the leucine threshold, and high&#xD;
protein quality. Furthermore, the findings indicate that the choice&#xD;
between supplements and natural foods should not be based solely on&#xD;
economic aspects, but also on digestibility, nutritional quality,&#xD;
convenience, time availability, lifestyle, and individual nutritional needs.&#xD;
It is concluded that the cost-effectiveness of protein sources should be&#xD;
interpreted from a multidimensional perspective, supporting more&#xD;
informed dietary decisions according to each individual's context.

Abstract: The use of anabolic-androgenic steroids (AAS) has become a global phenomenon, mainlydriven by the pursuit of increased muscle mass and enhanced physical performance,especially among athletes and recreational bodybuilders. Despite their desired anaboliceffects, growing concern has emerged regarding the adverse impact of these substances oncardiovascular health. The abusive use of AAS has been associated with severalcardiovascular complications. Previous studies have identified acute myocardial infarction(AMI) as one of the most frequently reported events, in addition to left ventricular hypertrophy(LVH), reduced left ventricular function, arterial thrombosis, pulmonary embolism, and cases ofsudden cardiac death. Given the increasing scientific literature on this topic, synthesizing theavailable evidence is essential to provide a broader understanding of the cardiovascular risksassociated with AAS abuse. Therefore, this integrative literature review aimed to analyze thecurrent scientific evidence regarding the effects of abusive AAS use on cardiovascularhemodynamic and autonomic parameters, with emphasis on structural and functional cardiacalterations and the increased risk of cardiovascular diseases. The reviewed evidencedemonstrated that supraphysiological doses of AAS are associated with electrocardiographic,echocardiographic, morphological, functional, and autonomic cardiac alterations, as well astransient increases in blood pressure, a prothrombotic state, impaired vascular reactivity,alterations in lipid metabolism, and an increased risk of cardiac arrhythmias. During thepre-analytical phase, the studies were identified through searches conducted in the PubMed,SciELO, and Web of Science databases, considering publications from the last 12 years.

      <title>Fatores sociodemográficos e ocupacionais associados às alterações em parâmetros morfológicos e cardiovasculares em profissionais de ambientes hospitalares</title>
      <link>http://repositorio.ufc.br/handle/riufc/87307</link>
      <description>Título: Fatores sociodemográficos e ocupacionais associados às alterações em parâmetros morfológicos e cardiovasculares em profissionais de ambientes hospitalares
Autor(es): Brasileiro, Victor Luiz Almeida
Abstract: Introduction: Hospital workers are exposed to several occupational factors that mayadversely affect their health, including long working hours, high levels of occupational stress,and difficulties in adopting healthy lifestyle behaviors. These conditions may contribute tochanges in morphological parameters, such as excess body weight and central adiposity, aswell as cardiovascular parameters, including elevated blood pressure and resting heart rate.However, evidence regarding the sociodemographic and occupational factors associated withthese changes in this population remains limited. Objective: To evaluate the associationbetween sociodemographic and occupational factors (sex, age, work area, and educationallevel) and changes in morphological and cardiovascular parameters among hospital workers.Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional observational study was conducted usingsecondary data from hospital workers at the Walter Cantídio University Hospital (Fortaleza,Ceará, Brazil), obtained from physical assessment records of the Casa Viva program throughOctober 2024. Sociodemographic, anthropometric, body composition, and cardiovascularvariables were analyzed. Associations between variables were assessed using the Chi-square test, adopting a significance level of 5%, with effect size estimated using Cramer's V.Results: A total of 488 hospital workers were evaluated, predominantly women (78.7%),adults (90.0%), and healthcare professionals (57.9%). Overweight was the most frequentbody mass index classification (37.7%), followed by normal weight (35.2%). Most participantspresented abdominal circumference indicative of hypertension risk (53.3%), normal body fatpercentage (59.1%), and prehypertension according to the overall blood pressureclassification (44.8%). Significant associations were observed between body mass indexclassification and sex (p = 0.024; large effect size) and work area (p = 0.006; moderate effectsize); between waist circumference and sex (p = 0.044; small effect size); between abdominalcircumference and sex (p &lt; 0.001; very large effect size) and age (p = 0.015; moderate effectsize); between waist-to-hip ratio and sex (p = 0.038; small effect size); and between bloodpressure classification and sex (p &lt; 0.001; large effect size) and work area (p = 0.017;moderate effect size). No significant associations were observed for educational level.Conclusion: The findings of this study demonstrate that sociodemographic and occupationalfactors are associated with morphological and cardiovascular parameters among hospitalworkers. These results may contribute to the development of health promotion andcardiometabolic disease prevention strategies tailored to the characteristics of this populationin the workplace.

Abstract: Type 1 diabetes is a chronic metabolic disease characterized by the autoimmune destruction ofpancreatic beta cells, making patients insulin-dependent. Proper glycemic control is essential to reducecomplications associated with the disease. High-intensity interval training (HIIT) has been studied as acomplementary strategy for glycemic management in type 1 diabetics.This study conducted an integrative review to investigate the effects of HIIT on glycemiccontrol in individuals with type 1 diabetes. The research was conducted in databases such asPubMed, Scielo, LILACS, and Google Scholar, using specific descriptors. Four studies thatmet the inclusion criteria were selected. The results showed that HIIT can improve glycemicstability and reduce 24-hour mean glucose levels without increasing the risk of hypoglycemia.However, its effects on glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) remain controversial. It is concludedthat HIIT can be an effective strategy for glycemic control, but additional studies are neededto determine ideal protocols and long-term effects
