Abstract: Global warming demands urgent mitigation strategies, with Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS)
being a prominent one. This work aimed to investigate the behavior of carbon dioxide (CO2) in
depleted oil reservoirs, utilizing computational simulation in the GeoDict software on two
digital sandstone rocks. Initially, the methodology was validated with literature data,
demonstrating the method's reliability in predicting petrophysical properties such as porosity
and absolute permeability. The comparative analysis involved the simulation of drainage and
imbibition processes, in addition to relative permeability. The characterization results revealed
that sample 1 has greater porosity (22.5%) and higher absolute permeability (1.59 D) compared
to sample 2 (14.4% and 0.177 D, respectively). In terms of storage security, sample 2 exhibited
a significantly higher capillary entry pressure, indicating greater resistance to gas migration.
The analysis of the capillary pressure curves during the drainage and imbibition processes
confirmed the occurrence of hysteresis. sample 1, which has a maximum saturation 48.5%
greater than sample 2, presents a higher residual trapping potential, making it more effective in
long-term CO2 immobilization, while sample 2 offers greater structural containment and
resistance to flow. It is concluded that simulation on digital rocks is a promising tool for
optimization and security in CCS projects.

Abstract: This study aimed to analyze the main causes of accidents in the oil sector in Brazil over the
last two decades, focusing on the environmental, social and economic impacts resulting from
these events. The research investigated everything from technical and operational failures to
institutional and regulatory deficiencies, seeking to understand how these variables relate to
the recurrence of accidents in the sector. The methodology adopted was qualitative in nature,
based on documentary analysis of technical reports, academic publications and official data
from regulatory agencies, which allowed the identification of patterns, weaknesses and
opportunities for improvement in safety practices in oil operations. Based on this
interpretative approach, it was possible to examine the organizational and political contexts
that influence risk management and disaster prevention. The results showed that accidents are
the result of a complex combination of human, technical and structural factors, aggravated by
the weakness in the application of safety standards and the insufficiency of inspection
mechanisms. It is concluded that the adoption of a systemic and integrated approach,
anchored in preventive policies, safety culture, continuous training of workers and rigorous
monitoring, is essential to mitigate the risks in the sector and ensure that energy development
occurs in a sustainable manner, protecting lives, the environment and the national economy.

Abstract: This study aims to analyze the economic feasibility of shale gas exploration in Brazil,
considering geological, technological, economic, environmental, and regulatory aspects. The
research was conducted through a literature review and comparative analysis of national and
international data. The study identified that Brazil has sedimentary basins with high potential
for unconventional gas production, such as the Paraná, Parnaíba, Recôncavo, Solimões, and
Amazonas basins. However, exploration faces significant challenges, including high production
costs, lack of adequate infrastructure, and gaps in the regulatory framework. Additionally, the
environmental impacts associated with hydraulic fracturing require special attention and
mitigation measures. The analysis concludes that, despite existing barriers, shale gas can
represent a strategic transitional energy source, provided there is investment in technology,
specific regulation, and sustainable planning. The study proposes recommendations for the
responsible development of this activity in Brazil.

Abstract: The search for measures to reduce the effects of climate change has marked contemporary
times. One of the most impactful gases is CO2, one of the main causes of the greenhouse effect.
This gas comes from the combustion of automobiles, thermoelectric plants, and industries of
various categories. It is directly related to the burning of fossil fuels. With this in mind, we seek
ways to reduce the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere based on scientific studies. One of these
methods is the sequestration and storage of this gas in an oil or gas reservoir. In this study, a 1D
geomechanical model will be constructed based on well logs adapted from a gas field and
mathematical correlations obtained from the literature on the subject, in addition to the creation
of a flow model coupled with a 3D geomechanical model. With the 1D geomechanical model,
it will be possible to describe the poroelastic behavior of the reservoir and the cap rock, that is,
the behavior of the principal stresses acting on the formation and the pore pressure will be
described, with the objective of calculating the maximum pressure that the reservoir can
withstand so that the largest possible amount of CO2 can be stored. The flow model coupled
with geomechanics will describe the behavior of the gas during storage, the cap rock that seals
the gas in the reservoir, and the faults present in the reservoir. In this way, it will be possible to
study issues involving the amount of injected CO2, the reservoir's behavior involving elastic properties over time, and the cap rock's response during storage.
