Abstract: The aim of the present thesis is to reflect the experience in the working world. We based&#xD;
our research on the construction of biographic narratives of former employees of Banespa -&#xD;
Banco do Estado de São Paulo (São Paulo State Bank) - who underwent a process of&#xD;
changes that was the result of the ancient public Paulista bank's privatization and takeover&#xD;
by the Spanish private bank Santander in November 2000. We initially carried out an&#xD;
ethnographic research to survey the impacts on the life of Banespa employees - the&#xD;
banespianos - caused by that change, a change that resulted in the dismissal of thousands of&#xD;
them and in a fast restructuring of the workload. As a result, banespianos experienced the&#xD;
loss of their feeling of belonging in relation to the company, the loss of their socioprofessional&#xD;
identity. Based on that ethnographic context, we set up four biographic&#xD;
narratives which allow us to understand those changes from the angle of the experiences&#xD;
actually lived by the subjects. Those experiences were collected on the occasion of&#xD;
meetings with the subjects, i.e. the biographed, and us, the researcher, during which the&#xD;
subjects narrated their life stories. The biographic narratives are a learning process between&#xD;
the lived, the narrated, and the interpreted, insofar as the subjects involved in the research&#xD;
and the building of knowledge carry out a reflection on themselves. They used their&#xD;
experience as a starting-point and that is why the narratives are analytically understood as&#xD;
pedagogies of the experience in the world of work.
