La insalubridad del corpus político - Estudio de una metáfora: el cuerpo del Estado y sus dolencias, las crisis

Abstract

The following essay analyzes the interaction between two political metaphors, the metaphor which assimilates society with a body and the one which understands crisis as illness. Starting with the analysis of a Shakespeare play in which these two metaphors articulate the political plot of the tragedy, Coriolanus, we will continue with a study of the historical use of these rhetorical figures, from Plato to Fritz Lang’s Metropolis. Thus, we will try to determine the way these metaphors are used in order to support a sort of conservative and deterministic thinking and to move us to towards political radicalism.
